As well, the AVR-590 is one of the first to include Dolby’s new Pro Logic IIz decoding, which provides front channel height effects, to dramatically increase the front soundstage for the ultimate surround sound experience. Analog and digital video sources are upconverted via Anchor Bay VRS processing to HD quality (View larger) Top audio fidelity is assured with the Audyssey MultEQ room acoustic measurement and correction system, which analyzes the speakers and the listening room at up to six measurement points (microphone included) and automatically corrects the response for the smoothest, most natural tonal balance. Operate the on-screen display with the remote control unit (View larger) Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ ensure even tonal balance at any volume level with no annoying volume jumps during commercial interruptions. Dolby Pro Logic IIz Processing Dolby Pro Logic IIz introduces a new dimension to home theater entertainment through the addition of a pair of front height channels. Compatible with stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 content, Dolby Pro Logic IIz provides enhanced spaciousness, depth and dimension to movies, concert video and video game playback while maintaining the full integrity of the source mix. (Dolby Pro Logic IIz playback requires a separate 2-channel amplifier.) Audyssey Dynamic Volume for Real-Time Volume Adjustment Audyssey Dynamic Volume constantly monitors the sound sources and adjusts the volume to the optimum level for the particular source being heard without sacrificing dynamic range. The AVR-590 is also equipped with Audyssey MultiEQ which measures the acoustic characteristics of the room to obtain the optimum acoustic effects, and Dynamic ED which reproduces the high and low range with the optimum acoustic effect during low volume levels. Dynamic Volume combines these two functions to achieve maximum performance. Minimum Signal Path for Clear Audio and Video Signal The "simple and straight" design concept has been thoroughly implemented in the signal paths to contribute to immaculately clean audio and video playback. Signal paths are as short as possibly to keep signal degradation in the audio and the video circuitry to an absolute minimum. Audyssey Dynamic Volume constantly monitors the sound source (View larger) Direct Mechanical Ground Construction Vibration-resistant construction has been reviewed to thoroughly suppress the adverse influence of vibration on sound quality. The power transformers, a source of vibration, have been securely mounted on the highly rigid bottom chassis. Direct mounting of cast-iron feet to the radiator in near proximity to each other serves to suppress mutual vibration with the power transformers and other sources of vibration. Connections for All of Your Entertainment Needs In addition to enhanced HDMI 1.3 repeating (3 in, 1 out), the AVR590 features component video switching (2 in, 1 out), analog to HDMI conversion (480i to 480p) and seven analog inputs. A front-panel audio/video input allows quick and easy connection of camcorders and game systems. System setup is simplified by a new, enhanced icon-based on-screen display that is delivered over HDMI. System expansion is available with optional accessories. For media networking, use the optional ASD-3N and ASD-3W. For iPod connectivity, use the ASD-3N/3W, as well as the ASD-11.
