USB Data Cable Driver Quick Installation Guide Prolific USB driver installation Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. Don’t connect the USB data cable to the computer at this time. Run the Prolific USB driver installation program. The program can be found at CD_Drive:USB DriverPL-2303 Driver Installer.exe or CD_Drive:USB Driversetup.exe. Follow the installation program’s instructions to complete the driver installation. This step installs the Prolific USB-to-Serial COM port driver to your PC. Restart your PC. Connect the USB data cable to your PC’s USB port. Don't connect your phone to the USB cable at this time. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" will appear and the wizard will begin the USB cable Installation. When the installation completes the "New Hardware Wizard" will disappear and you will return to the Windows desktop. Verify the successful installation of Prolific USB-to-serial COM port driver. Go to (Start=>Settings=>Control Panel=>System=>Hardware=>Device Manager =>Ports) and write down which COM port number is defined for Prolific USB-to-serial COM port. Software installation Install the cell phone management software for the phone. The software and its user guide are located on the CD under each phone model’s individual directory. Please refer the software user guide for help regarding how to install the software. Select the COM port number you wrote down for serial communication with your phone. For most cell phone management software, there is a setting under Tools or Preferences=>Communication or Connection=>Use COM port. Please refer the software’s user guide for help regarding how to assign the correct COM port. Turn off your phone. Connect your phone to the USB cable. Turn on your phone. The software is ready for use. Please refer the software’s user guide for help regarding how to use the software. MAC/Linux OS Users The installation CD only has USB driver and software for windows PC. If you are using MAC/Linux OS, you can download a Prolific USB-to-serial COM port driver for MAC/Linux from Prolific’s website http://www.prolific.com.tw. You will also need a cell phone management software compatible with your phone for MAC/Linux OS. |
